Chats on the Past: Elisabeth Petry

April 7, 2021 @ 5:00 pm 6:00 pm

Fridays are for fascinating forums! Join us for a Live discussion with author Liz Petry who will discuss her works, At Home Inside: A Daughter’s Tribute to Ann Petry and Can Anything Beat White? A Black Family’s Letters, delving into her family’s prominent history, including writer Ann Petry, whose novel, The Street, was the first novel by an African American woman to sell over one million copies and her aunt, Anna Louise James, who was one of the two first African-American pharmacists in Connecticut. Petry will share an engaging portrait of black family life from the 1890s to the early twentieth century, a period not often documented by African American voices.
