Destination Westport: The Path of Patriots Cemetery Tour
July 13 @ 9:00 am – 10:00 am
On July 8, 1779, during the war for Independence, British soldiers attacked Green’s Farms, burning buildings to the ground. Learn about Westport’s role in the American Revolution, by visiting the gravestones of those who served during the war for Independence—including stories of the fateful day Greens Farms burned. Even as you hear the story of colonists fighting for their freedom you will also hear the stories of enslaved Africans who chose sides and fought for their voices to be heard.
Please park along Nyala Farms Road. We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and bring bottled water — the ground is uneven and the weather may be warm.
Per State of Connecticut mandates, social distancing practices will be in effect and masks are required unless the use of a mask or cloth face covering by anyone for whom doing so would be contrary to his or her health or safety because of a medical condition.
Space is limited to 8 persons per tour. Additional tours may be added if demand requires. If you wish to join but the tour has been sold out, please email your interest to email@example.com
