Support Westport Museum’s project to restore two portraits of World War II reporter, Chicago Tribune Central Europe Bureau chief and longtime Westport resident Sigrid Schultz. The Museum’s exhibition “Dragon Lady”—currently on view—highlights Schultz, as well as how her reporting reflects many controversial issues still present in the United States today. Only through your support can these significant portraits be preserved and ultimately put on display later this spring.
Both pieces were painted by Sigrid’s father, Herman Schultz, a well-regarded Norwegian portrait-painter of the early 20th century. Completed over a century ago, these paintings show Sigrid as a young woman; one done in the impressionist style while the other leans into the then-emerging cubist movement.
